The Effect of Solvents on the Chemical Composition

چکیده

Solvents are widely used in wood conservation for either dissolving polymers for consolidation purposes or for removing dirt or foreign matter, which was applied during previous conservation. Solvents may cause temporary swelling of the wood, and when they evaporate wood returns back to its original size. They may form complexes with wood components when unlimited swelling arises as a consequence of breaking the adjacent bonds. These complexes have been shown to be stable for long periods of time at elevated temperatures or under high vacuum, while they are not stable with regard to moisture. Wood absorbs organic solvents, which are retained in the wood cells for short periods of time only in normal conditions. During the short presence of solvents inside the wood, wood components are slightly affected, and after evaporation of the solvent the chemical composition of wood may undergo some changes. Using FTIR, the molecular bonds in wood samples that were treated with three different organic solvents were closely studied.

Solvent Effect on Stability and Thermodynamic Behavior of Complex of 18-Crown-6 with Hydroxyl Ammonium Cation

The complexation reaction between hydroxyl ammonium (HONH3+ ) cation with 18-crown-6 (18C6) ligand was studied in dimethylsulfoxide – water (DMSO-H2O), methanol – water (MeOH-H2O) and dimethylformamid – methanol (DMF-MeOH), binary solutions at different temperatures using conductometric method. The obtained results show that the stoichiometry of t...

Effect of the synthesis conditions of titanium-magnesium catalysts on the composition, structure and performance in propylene polymerization

Supported catalysts synthesized via the interaction of Mg(OEt)2 with TiCl4 in the presence or absence of an internal stereoregulating donor (di-n-butyl phthalate), with different solvents (chlorobenzene, n-undecane, n-heptane) at different titanation temperatures have been studied by a set of physicochemical methods. Data on the chemical composition, X-ray structure and pore structure of these ...

The effect of Environmental exposure to some chemical solvents on DPPC as important component of lung surfactant: an ab initio study

One of the main components of lung alveoli is surfactant. DPPC (Dipalmitolphosphatidylcholine) is thepredominant lipid component in lung surfactant that is responsible for lowering surface tension in alveoli in thisarticle. We used a very approximate model with computational method of Ab initio to describe the interactionsbetween DPPC as important component of lung surfactant and some chemical ...

Effect of Solvent properties on Crystallinity and Morphology of Octavinyl-POSS: A Comparative Study

Polyhedral Oligomeric Silsesquioxanes (POSSs) are a class of hybrid structures synthesized through hydrolytic condensation (Sol-Gel method) of trifunctional silane monomers under specific conditions. Octavinyl silsesquioxane (OVS) nanostructures are comprised of a rigid inorganic silica core surrounded by vinyl functional groups with an under-developed synthesis procedure. Generally, POSS morph...
